About

Not Jam UI Condensed 16 was designed as a slimmer alternative to Not Jam UI 12. Set font size to multiples of 16 in order to render correctly.

The font is 16px in height, with 13px  height glyphs and 3px line spacing. It is available for use in any commercial or non-commercial projects, without limitation.

Download includes the font in .ttf format and a copy of the licence, along with all glyphs in .png format and a couple of JSON files which will allow you to import and edit the font using YellowAfterlife's Pixel Font Converter - instructions below!

If you use this font in your work I'd love to see it! Leave links in the comments below and I'll check them out

Also included within this pack is Not Jam UI Condensed 19 - a 19px height font using the same letter forms as Not Jam UI Condensed 16, but with added support for most Latin-1 Supplemental and Latin Extended A unicode characters.

Editing

Included within the download is a .png image containing all glyphs, along with 2 .json files containing settings for YellowAfterlife's Pixel Font Converter, which together will allow for quick and easy editing of the font if you need to make any changes.

  1. Open the .png file in the image editing software of your choice
  2. Make the required changes before saving a copy in .png format
  3. Follow the link to Pixel Font Converter
  4. Use the "pick image" button to upload the edited copy of the glyphs
  5. Use the import button to upload the .json file, making sure to select the 16px variant if you only need the basic latin glyphs or the 19px variant for the extended set.
  6. Feel free to update the metadata to reflect changes :)
  7. Once you're happy, use the save ttf button in the top right to export your new .ttf format font file
  8. If you're likely to want to make further edits, I recommend also using the export button to export your new settings as .json

Hi, the font looks quite nice and clean for UI and we were considering it for our game, but we are having a rendering issue. It seems to render one or more lines across the text, do you know what could it be? Attaching evidence. It happens the same for both 16 and 19.

Thanks!

Hi, glad you like the font!

Not sure what's going on with the lines, but would love to help if I can. Could I check a few details:

1. What engine are you using to make the game?

2. Does the issue occur with any other fonts?

Thanks for your answer! We are using Godot 4.2.1. This doesn't occur with any other font we have tried so far, including one of yours that we are already trying for other types of text: https://not-jam.itch.io/not-jam-old-style-11

Thanks for getting back to me! Think I've figured it out - please try the following steps and see if your issue is resolved:

  1. Ensure the font is rendered at an exact multiple of 16 (or 19, depending on which variant you're using).
  2. Navigate to the import settings for the font
  3. Ensure the following settings are set correctly:
    1. Antialiasing should be set to "None"
    2. Generate Mipmaps should be off
    3. Hinting should be set to "None"
    4. Subpixel Positioning should be disabled
  4. Once all settings are correct, click the Reimport button to reimport the font

Your import settings when reimporting should look like this:

Please let me know if you have any issues with any of this, more than happy to help if I can

Thanks a lot for the quick help, it seems to be working fine!

We have now adopted 2 of your fonts for our puzzle game, will let you know when we upload the latest version in case you want to take a look.

No worries at all, glad to hear it's worked!

Looking forward to seeing the game once it's ready :)
