The year is 2050. Humanity has conquered the last frontiers, from the deepest caves to the highest peaks. Unfortunately, they forgot to bring snacks.

Play as OvenBot 3000 - a loyal companion built to scale even the most treacherous of mountains to deliver oven pizza to the starving explorers - and climb the great peaks. Collect upgrades, find secrets and brave death-defying leaps, but make sure you don't fall!

Inspired by Peaks Of Yore, A Difficult Game About Climbing, and GIRP.

Fullscreen recommended, but play however you like :)

DEV NOTES

This game is best played with a mouse, but if you manage to beat it with a trackpad I'll be extremely impressed.

The game can be beaten without any of the powerups, if you'd like an extra challenge!

Really Long Arms features online leaderboards. Please report any offensive usernames to notjamgame@gmail.com and I'll get them removed.

CONTROLS

  • WASD or Arrow Keys: move/shift momentum
  • Left click: grab with left arm
  • Right click: grab with right arm
  • Space: pull up whilst grabbing
  • R: restart current stage
  • Esc: exit to level select (ingame only)
Spoilers!
  • Shift: Fan Dash (direction set by WASD/arrows)

GMTK JAM

The jam version, available here as a download for Windows and Linux, was made in <96 hours for GMTK Jam 2024, with the theme "Built To Scale". All code, assets and audio were made within this timeframe, with the exception of the font and a small number of shaders and particles.

I also recommend checking out Weaponmancer by my friend The Atrxcity

KNOWN ISSUES

There's a handful of stutters on the browser build - these seems to occur when shaders are compiled during gameplay. In my testing this only has a significant impact the first time the player locates a secret, but please let me know if you encounter this more often.

Due to the limitations of Godot 4 web builds, this game won't run on Mac.

The browser builds run fine for me on Chrome and Firefox, but if you're having any performance issues desktop builds are available for Windows and Linux.

This game is so well thought out! The swinging mechanic is super fun and engaging, also the music and the pixel art are fire!!

Amazing! A very great game, and the gameplay is very interesting, I love the style!

great game. i made it to level 3 before i realized you could use space to pull yourself... then it became much easier!

Thanks so much! Very impressed you made it so far without using the pull mechanic, it's been a lot of fun for me to hear all the different ways people have played :)

amazing. I beat the game and i found two secret, idea is really cool :) (Celeste reimagined) btw the game wouldn't go into fullscreen for me, but i guess that's not your fault. and I beat the entire level 4 using only one arm, i wasnt using both arms that much, idk

Thank you for playing! Always happy to hear someone else managed the one arm run :)

Out of interest, which browser are you using? Can't update during the jam but would love to try and push a fix after the voting period ends

I love the idea, and I wish I could say more about my game, but I am using a mouse pad so using the main mechanic is VERY difficult. You are DEFINITELY gonna get in the top 100 though!

Thank you so much!

Just tried a trackpad only run myself, it's definitely a challenge!

grabbing is such a satisfying mechanic! really interesting

Thank you :)

Thanks so much! Got a few bug fixes I want to sort once voting for the jam is over, might add a few extra bits whilst I'm there, it's been a fun project to work on :)

one strong arm

That fall at around 15:20 - I'm so sorry!

Thanks so much for sharing the full playthrough, this is really useful for me to see where I can improve on level design :) you looked really comfortable with the controls once you got going!

Glad ya watched the video xd.

I've been doing some Blindruns of random itchio games.

Mostly because I think it's a really good way to find new things, and to help the developers!

(Also ye, your game is quite nice, physics didn't feel much satisfying tho, and having 2 arms doesn't not change the game much. But overall cute!)

Really fun game! Had a great time

Thank you for playing :)

Grapple oven all the way :)

this is really good, and it looks awesome too

Thank you :)

Satisfying physics. With a little more time, an option to toggle grabbing instead of hold to grab would be nice. Found myself gipping my mouse buttons for deal life.

Glad physics felt good! Toggle grab is a great idea, thank you :)
